Virginia Beach Debate: George Allen Sets Clear Contrast Against Tim Kaine on Jobs

Following the Friday evening GOP Senate primary debate in Virginia Beach, George Allen issued the following statement.

Virginia Beach, VA – Today, George Allen participated in a Republican primary debate in Virginia Beach, organized by the Republican Party of Virginia. The second of three scheduled debates, this debate focused on economic and regulatory policies affecting small businesses.

Allen used the debate to draw a clear contrast between his record of supporting pro- job growth policies that helped create 300,000 net new Virginia jobs against Tim Kaine’s record of losing 100,000 Virginia jobs.  Following the debate, former Congresswoman Thelma Drake (R-VA) and Delegate John Cosgrove (R-Chesapeake) issued the following statements:

“This Senate race is about whether our children and grandchildren will have the same opportunities to reach the American Dream that we had,” said former Congresswoman Thelma Drake.  “But for too many small business owners, their American Dream is slipping away under the Kaine/Obama tax and regulate agenda.  Serving as a Delegate while George Allen was Governor, I saw firsthand how he worked with legislators from both parties to empower Virginia small businesses by eliminating and reforming 70 percent of Virginia regulations and cutting taxes $600 million. George Allen is the clear choice for a future of more jobs and less government.”

“As he said in the debate, George Allen can’t wait to compare his record with Tim Kaine’s record,” said Delegate John Crosgrove. “We have a choice between George Allen’s proven, pro-growth record that created 300,000 net new jobs in Virginia or Tim Kaine’s record of proposing billion-dollar tax increases while losing 100,000 Virginia jobs.  Small businesses need George Allen’s record of leadership in working with people of both parties to advance our freedom and opportunity agenda.”

Those who forget the past are condemned to become…Tim Kaine

After lamenting last week that his biggest disappointment as Governor was not being able to get a tax increase for transportation, Tim Kaine continued reading from the Jamie Radtke attack playbook by posting this on his website today:

Richmond, VA – Eleven years ago today, George Allen kicked off a Senate term of bloated deficit spending by voting for a Republican budget that eliminated the country’s record surplus.

Surprised Kaine could remember that, because at the time he was misappropriating Richmond City funds to pay for buses to the Million Mom March.

But more than that, has Kaine forgotten what happened in the fall of 2001? Has he forgotten that our nation, and in fact our state was attacked?

And sure he may have disagreed with the war. But as DNC Chairman and Chief Obama Cheerleader Part-Time Governor Kaine was all about raising the federal debt to pay for Obamacare and the failed Stimulus.

In February, 2009, Kaine said, “The number one priority of the President’s economic recovery plan is to get Americans back to work. The plan will boost employment by saving or creating more than 3 million jobs nationally.”

But former Bush economic advisory Lawrence Lindsay said “Everyone except flacks for the White House knows that the 2009 stimulus package failed miserably to produce the promised results…But even if you buy the White House’s argument that the $800 billion package created 3 million jobs, that works out to $266,000 per job. Taxing or borrowing $266,000 from the private sector to create a single job is simply not a cost effective way of putting America back to work. The long-term debt burden of that $266,000 swamps any benefit that the single job created might provide.”

In 2011 Kaine said “[I] Think Health Care Reform Is Going To Go Down In History As One Of The Great Achievements Of This President.”

But writing in The Washington Times in March, Rep. Paul C. Broun says, “Recently, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) uncovered some of these hidden costs, and it is clear that the original $938 billion price tag was only a low-ball estimate. The CBO now pegs the cost at nearly double – $1.79 trillion. Even worse, the CBO also estimates that nearly 20 million people could lose their employer-provided insurance due to the rising costs of Obamacare mandates.”

In January CNSNews.com wrote “ President Barack Obama has been increasing the national debt during his presidency by an average of $4.24 billion per day ($4,240,506,004.34) putting him on a pace to increase the national debt by $6.2 trillion ($6,195,379,272,340.74) by the end of his term on Jan. 20, 2013, according to the debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury…That $6.2 trillion is more debt than was accumulated by all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined.”

And what does Tim Kaine say?

”I’m doing what the President wants me to.”

So, when Tim Kaine tells you that George Allen voted to increase spending, make him show you the red ink in his other hand.

Tim Kaine’s biggest disappointment…

Not that 100,000 jobs were lost.

Not that he locked down the rest areas.

Not that higher education costs skyrocked.

Not that he couldn’t even get a single Democrat to vote for his budget.

And about all that VDOT money Governor McDonnell’s audit found…

Tim Kaine tells a whopper thiiiiiiiiisssss big…

Defeat Tim Kaine has the story: Tim Kaine Caught Telling a Whopper

Last month, In a Harvard Law School question and answer session with his wife, Anne My-father-was-once-a-Republican Holton, Kaine said:

“I don’t really don’t care about parties or partisanship that much, I’d never had gone to a DNC meeting or even a DNC event even through my time as governor”

Not. So. Fast. Timmy.

AUGUST 2008

Tim Kaine is still Governor, admittedly on his way to being part-time, as he addresses the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

We know the convention is paid for by the unions, but still it’s a DNC event.

Leading up to his Governor’s race, Kaine attended another DNC event, then then DNC Chair, now wannabe-governor, Terry McAuliffe when the was given to Kaine’s campaign.

The man who was Barack Obama’s first major endorser and chief cheerleader. The man who shirked his gubernatorial duties to campaign and fundraise for Obama and then became part-time governor as he assumed his role as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee wants you to believe he isn’t partisan and he doesn’t go to DNC events.

Why is Tim Kaine hiding his special interest money behind the trees?

For all his pomp and circumstantial “evidence” about special interests supporting George Allen, Tim Kaine doesn’t want you to know that he’s been sittin’ under the apple tree, and the oak tree, and the pine tree with special interests of his own.

Here’s a little bit of Tim’s shady dealings with the environmentalists.

December 18, 2011: Tim Kaine pays the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) for “Conference Call Expenses.”
Virginia Right

According to financial reports, between December 2011 and February 2012 LCV bundled nearly $35,000 in contributions for Kaine for Senate.

December 31, 2011: Tim Kaine campaign pays LCV $140.67 for “Contribution Processing Fee”
Virginia Right

Conveniently, that same day Tim Kaine campaign receives $2,500 contribution from LCV.
Virginia Right

On January 31, 2012, LCV names their “Dirty Dozen” list. Apparently all 12 are named “George Allen” because as of April 2, 2012, no one else had been added to the list.

The day after Kaine blasts the SuperPAC supporting George Allen, he gets one of his own.

Word on the street has it that there’s more to come.

In the forest of special interest funding, if you listen closely, you can hear an eyebrow fall.

Mark Warner’s Selective Memory

Mark Warner has a new fundraising email out on behalf of Tim Abuser Fees Kaine.

Warner says, “In 2002, then-Lieutenant Governor Kaine and I were faced with a $6 billion shortfall. Our predecessors had let government spending balloon under their watch. They used all sorts of irresponsible budget gimmicks to kick the can down the road, and when the recession hit, the house of cards began to fall.”

He goes on…“So Tim and I got to work. We made tough choices…”

You know, brilliant things like closing DMV offices and rest stops.

The Truth, however, tells a different story:

Forty days into office Governor Mark Warner broke his “I will not raise taxes” campaign pledge and spent the next three years manufacturing a budget crisis that never existed.

In 2002, the voters of Hampton Roads overwhelmingly rejected tax referendum to pay for their own road improvements. Northern Virginia rejected a similar measure. And while both regions continue to whine about their transportation woes (perhaps rightfully so) the overwhelming message was that their was no need to raise taxes.

The result? Warner finally pulled off Virginia’s largest ever tax increase. And what happened with that? Amazingly, the state yielded a budget surplus in an amount almost identical to the tax increase.

There were shouts that the money should have been returned to the people. But Warner and his RINO buddies in the Senate never considered that an option. They spent it all.

Likewise, Governor Abuser Fees tried to raise taxes every year of his Administration. His final proposed budget was so unpalatable that he couldn’t even get Democrats to vote for it.

Bob McDonnell came in and cleaned up the Warner/Kaine mess in pretty short order.

Mark Warner: Breaking his word since 2001.

Kaine wants you to pay more for gas

Because, apparently, you’re not already paying enough.

In a statement today, Kaine said:

“I strongly urge the Senate to approve legislation repealing subsidies to the Big 5 oil companies…While there is no immediate solution to high gas prices, there is immediate action we can take to ensure we continue on a path toward energy independence, and this bill is the right next step. Repealing these subsidies will help America invest in the $2.3 trillion clean energy economy that will create jobs right here in Virginia, bring us closer to energy independence, and reduce our reliance on high oil prices.”

That’s gonna translate to roughly a $4 billion hike in gas prices just in time for summer.

What else will your family have to give up?

Tim’s still scratchin’ his head.
